Print-tastic

Thu May 15, 2008, 5:35 AM
Well, i've decided to submit a print for the first time since I joined dA 5 years ago (time sure does fly!). It's my 'Oink Oink' pic, one of my many character designs for my current long-running comic idea (speaking of which, I realised ages ago that I said would be submitting more of the designs... damnit, i'll do that after i've written this!)

Let me know if you would like to see any more of my pieces submitted as prints, I always appreciate the feedback from you lovely people...

No really, i'm being genuinely nice! :)

It's been over a year but... I'm back...

Wooaah-ho-hooooo.... Hello people! Well, I have to say it has been far FAR too long since i've submitted ANY of my work on good ol' deviantart. So I thought it was about time I did! Must be almost 2 years, surely. I can't even remember! But yes anyhoo, I digress, here I am...

Well first of all i'll start off by saying that i've had many a reason for the huge delay in any submissions, partly due to relationship problems and other issues but also because I personally felt my artwork was going downhill, especially after realising that the work I was doing on a game project I had been doing at the time (Zip 'n' West, check out mine and the rest of Psync Interactive's site: [link] A nice shameless plug there!).

However over the past 8 months or so i've managed to regain my previously lost confidence in my work, since i've been doing loooooads of work on a brand new, fantastic game project with my close group of friends (check out that site damn you! Why are you still reading this?! Go on, goooo I say!)…

It's safe to say, I've got my 'art mojo' back, and about time too! Not only have I really been enjoying the work i've been doing on this new game (and for once it's been a long-term affair, really grabbed my attention instead of me getting bored halfway through and abandoning it) but i've also managed to do a shed-load of brand new artwork for a personal comic creation of mine which i've had buzzing round in my head for almost 2 years. AAAAAND I have been busy doing a load of canvas painting, mainly as presents for close friends of mine, but also on my way to doing commissions for other friends and family, and then hopeflly via the internet (when I eventually get round to having my own website set up!).

Soooo yeh, real happy I decided to come back on here, any of you who may remember me from when I was last on here, HELLO TO YOU ALL!! I know the last message I wrote pretty much said the same thing, and that was over a year ago! But I promise I wil attempt to keep up with this in future and hopefully i'll have a relatively endless supply of new artwork to submit. I look forward to sharing it with you and also checking out all the new artwork from everyone else... it always ALWAYS gives me inspiration to see such great work out there, strives me to do even better and carry on.... let's hope there won't be any more art 'droughts' from myself anytime in the near future!

Speak to you guys soon

… peace, out.

SP!KE™'s baaaaack....

(I apologise in advance for the HUGE amount of writing, anyone who remembers me from here 3 years ago will acknowledge my tendancy to ramble on....a lot! Haha)

Heeeeeeeeeey people!! Yes it's me, i'm back after what must be well over 3 years of distinct-lack-of-DA-activityness!!!! And I have to say, a helluva lot's happened in all that time!!.... Seems like now should be the time to explain my disappearance....

Right well basically for the past 7 or 8 years myself and my 3 closest friends have been together as a PC-based games-creation and design collective, of which I came up with the name all those years ago: PSYNC Interactive ([link]). Only in the past 2 years or so has it really kicked off properly and I personally have had a helluva lot more involvement in that time, mainly on character designs, music creation, textures, voice acting and various other bits. At this current time we have only really completed one actual game, albeit a short 3-level affair that was only done in 6 months. In retrospect it looks a little shoddy in many areas, the character being my personal dislike (the movement is dodgy as well as he actual model and texture mapping). But to be fair, this was all due to the short time scale (it was actually as one of our collective member's uni project, of which he was obviously supposed to do on his own but hey.... he graduated, and it all helped with the learning curve for all of us) We've all learnt a lot, Jim's our programmer and general tech wiz - at the mo he's researching the Direct X programming language, along with the aide of Sid, our newest member. John, our 3D modelling guy (as well as other things, one of which being the creator of our brand-spanking new gorgeous-looking updated website) has moved up north to Lancaster for a job since last year, however he is still very much involved with PSYNC and his job helps with our cause. Viz is our dark horse of the bunch in a way, originally he had no official 'job' title, and was just helping here and there. But it turns out that he picks up things very fast and so far he's delved into doing our texturing, 3D-modeling of my characters, animation and a bit of voice-acting too. At the moment he has been researching into various rendering techniques as we are using Maya for our 3D work. It is so soooo satisfying to see MY characters come to life in 3D form.... And all exactly how they look in 2D form too! All good, baby....

So anyhoo, in all that time I haven't really had the time or inclination to upload any artwork onto DA, and onnly occasionally come on here to see any new artwork by people. But now i feel the time's right to start putting more of my stuff on here, namely my character designs and the 3D versions and also any artwork i've done in-between for my self.

Let's hope that there'll be more activity from myself over the next year.... To anyone who knows me or remembers me, I hope you're all well and I look forward to getting back on track and exchanging comments, compliments and crtiques on each other's artwork....

.... peace, out.
